This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Does anyone know how the fishing is on the Solway? Was thinking of fishing the Open next Sunday.
Anyone else going?

Now Mart, was thinking about having a go, but cant seem to get any info on the fishing.  secret It just seems to be quite early this year. I'm sure its normally at the back end of the month or early June usually.  confused Let me know if your going over.

as far as i know there hasent been a club match on at silloth this year i asked a few lads at a league match yesterday and no one had fished it.so i had a go last night and there was plenty of fish.
it isnt pegged this year though it is a zoned rover,so you draw your zone then you can pick your spot in the zone!
but once you have cast out you cant move off your spot!  dont ask me why they have changed it?to suit one or two individuals i think baby
also there is a £1000 up this year.cmr again.

they have put a grand up for grabs, and changed the rules to suit the locals, its pathetic, just because the east coast lads do well in this match is the reason for the change me thinks angry angry

i dont think youre a 100% right there lobbers but lets say it can put some locals off being pegged alongside some of the top north east anglers, ive been on the receiving end  a couple of times myself :wink:but you should be able to pick a tip or two up during the match off them. if you draw a good peg and dont make the most of it you can only blame yourself i say.
most locals that fish it ive talked to would prefer it pegged as even us locals cant pre match it as its zoned!
