Sea State

Planning trying my hand at spinning for Macerel this next week. I was wondering whats the sea state at the moment?

It was flat last night when I went crabbing but it,s gone n.w. now. The ebb,s are absolute rubbish, waste of time. Stocked up on some more prawn though but need a new onion bag as the other one looks worse for wear.

You got a pushnet to get the prawn?

I was down runswick with mine last week and got about 50 decent size shrimp in about 20mins if that.

Just got a small net and pick the better ones out of the rock pools as I go. I,ve got more than enough now. Was hoping to use them today but the winds put paid to that idea.

Sea is growing quite big now and the water is very coloured close to shore, probably due to all the silt from the rains.

Gutted , was planning on doin abit of plugging today ,,,, bugger.......and im to tight to use my crab till winter ,,,,,,,looks like a sesh on the esk later on .......

Not unless it gets real rough mate but on the mackerel front if the sea is anything less than flat calm then fishing is generally poor. The forecast is for the sea to get quite rough over the next couple of days.

 The lower deck of Whitby pier was closed this afternoon, the guy moved us all off, but not before a cod was landed on crab bait.
