when is the best time and time of the year too collect razors,and is it right to look for a key hole shape in sand and put some salt over the top .

Good question, I would also like to know the answer esp as I will be going to South wales in next few weeks and know a good beach with lots of razors. i've seen the salt method and also a small harpoon/hook gadget, but as most things in life it all about knowing how to use it and where and when to stick it for best results,  any answers?

im no expert lads but the keyhole is easy to see,we just used to dig them in scotland when digging whites but you break a few.
a lad i know salts the hole then does a few more as they take a while to come out the sand,and he was getting hundreds on a tide.

Anyone remember when Eric Appleby decided to share one of areas best razor beds location in sea angler mag back in the early 90s ? 

I dont think that it ever did recover from the resulting assault from the army of anglers and collectors taking them by the bucket full

Yeah i hope they dont close the bit of beach in between hartlepool prom and steetly , i get all my bait from there ....ooops....

Them conservationists really boil my piss they do , i mean isnt it all part of human nature that we collect bait to catch fish ? hunter gather and all that
i think they need to be monitoring the high seas fleets scooping up everything they come across instead of us individual`s collecting bait for his/her own needs........humbug

Same problem down the A5 running out of Milton Keynes.  The lug beds have been decimated since someone let the cat outta the bag early last week.
