This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

After months of deliberation I finally decided on purchasing this quality Ice Pike rod for the coming season - married up to a braided 6000, surely these little rods are the way forward in kayak angling

At 2 foot long my kayak load is getting lighter and lighter yes any thoughts lads

Can I just correct your grammar? It should read: Quality? Kayak fishing rod.   laugh

Actually, I have one of those in my shed in Cyprus. I use it with a closed face reel   surprise and leaded jellyworms to jig for bream and wrasse while snorkelling. In fact, I'll be using it again next week happy

I would have thought a heavy bait casting rod used for Pike fishing would be ideal. Thats the type of rod i'm planning to use, when i eventually get cracking, and hopefuly sooner rather than later. It may also be a good idea to use a matching bait casting reel loaded with braid as well? A nice combo!

Dave

I have got a john wilson super shooter jerk bait rod, to be honest I find it a bit too stiff and lifeless. I am sure that there would be some more suited to yak fishing though.

My fav yak rod is the solid carbon fladden 6'6 spinning rod in the 15-30 g weight. Its got a lovely sensitive tip but loads of power in the butt  yes coupled with a decent fixed spool reel,10-20lb ultra thin braid, its great for plugging, jigging up to 4oz and bait fishing too !!

Have to agree with you Dave.....but you know that youth and some of the "off the wall" antics he gets up to.

I recall last year he told me what a great idea it was to walk onto Birdash for one of the festival matches , wearing shorts and hiking boots ! We both spent more time falling on our arses and losing skin to the rocks than we did fishing !

Best let him have his moment.....lol  canadian canadian....he come round and see sense.

As for that toy that Rob is demonstrating.....well the reaction from his better half when he showed her his latest purchase had to heard and seen to be believed......surfice to say she didn't share Robs enthusiasm at the nobs spike...sorry ice pike  yes

The action of the pink pike is through rather than tip in that it bends right through the butt and feels like it would struggle to tame an angry tadpole.

Good to see that some lighthearted banter type posts creeping back in.... yes yes canadian canadian
