This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Poppin at Thornwick
« on: May 01, 2008, 08:40:16 PM »
Took the lad out for a couple of hours tonight to introduce him to poppin   :cheesy: . We had fun although I didnt expect any fish, was just nice to get out and have a go seeing I've never fished a popper before, its fantastic fun watching it work over the shallows just above the weed and rocks. I used a 12 foot medium feeder rod and was suprised just how far I could chuck one of these Storm poppers. Looking forward to having a go for real when the fish are about

I havnt much confidence in using the poppers just yet Ken !! I might do though when I see a bass have a go at one  :surprise:

I like your style though by letting the little lad have a go with the poppers whilst you use the tried and tested plugs !!

I think I shall be adapting that method this summer to see how he gets on   at least he wont lose any !!

so once the lad has got you going with the surface poppers Ken you'll have to ask him for some help with the yak fishing..

No no Ken.........you'll see she turns up quite a lot....to carry the yak...haul match gear up and down Ravenscar.....dig bait etc...infact any menial task that would otherwise impede on my fishing. :canadian: :canadian:
