This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

yes me mate has two,he has a mg 30 and another one,but one bigger than other, cant think wich is wich though,he likes them both, but he prefers the bigger of the two,he fished through  the winter with them with me,and to me they seem adecent value for money reel, but i think you should stick to beach and pier with them, could be a bit  :suspious:on the rocks.

I bought one about 6 months ago, I really only intended it as an emergency back up if anything happened to my main reel but i did later buy another multiplier rod so it now gets quite a bit of use.

Personally I think they are a bargain (mine was £60 and I'm happy having paid that so at £40 you gotta be on a winner) Only time will tell how it fairs after a couple of years usage but certainly so far it hasnt let me down and for a budget multiplier I'd say they are well worth the money.

The build quality seems good and it has a 'solid' reliable feel to it.

Incidentally although I paid £60 I kinda got it for £5, I dont know the first thing about horse racing but was in town one afternoon when a mate who's a fanatic rang me with a tip 'that couldnt be beaten'. I was walking past the bookies at the time so in a fit of madness put a fiver on it, half a hour later I've got a brand new reel and still got £20 change  happy

Been a thread on these a while ago......I ve got three of the Okuma Magnetix.
The smaller 20cs version is a great very light beach reel or light boat reel,I use mine on the yak.The problem with the 20cs is the line capacity.I found while trying to balance the spool on my Abu 5500 that the 20cs Okuma only has the same line capacity as the 5500......which is a shame because physically it is just about the same size overall as a Penn 525 so if the spool had been wider it would make an ideal bottoms rock reel....but with the small capacity that is a non starter.
I bought a 30cs as a back up cliff reel....great retreive and appears well built but for me just far to big......seems Okuma just couldn't get the balance right between the 20 being too small and the 30 being too large.

How big is the '20' Jelly ? can't say I've ever seen one but I wouldn't mind another reel as a spare so I'd consider one. Is it just the same as a '30' in a smaller size ?

I mainly use an Abu 6500 so I'd be interested in something of a similar size.

The okuma 20cs is about the same capacity as an Abu 5500 I wound the line off my 5500 (Sakuma nite crystal 16lb) onto the Okuma and it filled it .
With 20lb (.40) Sufix ,even with my mediocre cast I can empty the spool so not a lot of good for the rocks with 25lb + lines.

yep, totally agree, Ive got a 20 and 30 meself, still reckon they're a bargain though, they work nicely. The line capacity on the 20 would be worrying if you're a good long caster ....As I am not a great fat musclebound oaf myself, I think I can get away with it! Hehehe  cheesy

It's all very well knowing how to do something, - but being able to do it is just a question of practice.
