After hearing I splashed out on a multi piece travel beach rod a few mates have been asking to have a go or at least see what the thing looks like, so I thought I'd post a bit on here for anyone else who may be thinking of one.
The one I got is a Shimano Beast master 13ft for £115, I know a lot of people regard multi's as little more than kids toys and a recipe for disaster (up till 6 weeks ago I was one of them) but believe me this is almost as good as any 2 piece I own and I've got a few rods that werent cheap.
Ok, its never gonna compete with quality 2 piece but for conveniece its second to none, to be honest I bought it because there's days I fancy a walk into town for a few beers followed by a couple of hours off the pier or local beach without the hassle of carrying serious stuff around.
If anyone is considering a travel rod for their hols etc then I'd thoroughly recommend one of these and would be more than happy to let anyone in the Whitby area 'have a go' for a few hours.
Here's what it looks like :-
Comes packed in a sturdy tube with a carrying handle !

Then in a protective roll.

To reveal 7 pieces.

That then assemble into a 13ft rod.

Takes an Abu 6500 on the butt end nicely.

Or further up if thats your preference.

But the rings and movable reel seats will equally allow for a fixed spool !
