I know what you mean Cliff but maybe the rest of the forum don't..... yes

I never take into consideration bite detection when buying a rod, because most of my fishing tends to be for cod so i dont think bite detection would be a priority in my rod choice as cod tend to give a decent bite that would show up on most rods.............But i can see why some match anglers might take into account good bite detection when buying a rod to see pouting/rockling biteing at 150yds must help when you are fishing a match for them.....

I certainly think , having good bite detection helps when cod fishing not all the time , but some , i know off the top of me head two marks that when the sea and wind are going a certain direction , cod of upto 5lb bite very lightly , i dont know exactly what the therory behind this is, but i have an idea...so think in these conditions owld edger sealy would have to have a re think and unless its hooked u wouldnt know what happened....
