One for you kayakers. I am wanting to write a page on kayak launch sites. Is anyone willing to help ? I'm not after your secret marks or anything like that, just launch sites and a rating of how easy it is to launch there. Even if it means carrying a kayk down a cliff I would be interested. Stuff like where to park, directions, parking fee, ease of launch, launch fee if applicable, A picture or pictures ? Im interested in all areas from Humber up to the borders. Even if your not a yacker but know somewhere you could launch from with somewhere maybe worth fishing near by then that would be good.
Thanks - Glenn :)

Brill idea Glen, I will start with Country Park, Filey(Dingy Club). Great parking (a couple of quid for all day), toilets, cafe, shop and camping/caravan site close at hand. Easy launch down steep boat ramp of about 100 metres (take a yak trolley) onto the sands of Filey bay - so makes for easy sheltered launch. Never been charged for launching yet. Bass and flatties in the bay making nice safe paddling/fishing. To the north its a two mile paddle to the end of the Brigg but pick your tides/ weather VERY carefully, don't paddle to the Brigg alone, not one for novices or without a guide. Paddling towards the south past the town centre there is good fishing around Hunmanby Gap but you do get more swell here so again be careful. Coastguards are on hand surveying the bay during seasonal times. Follow signs for Filey Country Park, parking next to the kids play area opposite the shop, ramp directly opposite. Recommend the campsite whole heartedly, we spend a lot of time there in the summer with the kids messing around in the water and fishing the Brigg.

Cornelian Bay - park at the water treatment plant which is free - you really need a trolley to get down to the cliff base - the path is loose stone with rough tarmac towards the bottom - once at the bottom you need to remove the trolley and do two trips down the cliff path with your kayak and then your tackle - if the tide is a big spring low then it's slightly further to walk but not too bad as there is an inner lake that is quite close - if the path is dry the descent and accent is not too bad, care must be taken if the path is wet though - on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say the level of difficulty is 7 - for this reason travel light and sensible - the bay offers excellent summer and winter cod fishing along the full length of the bay on the land rock, also there is some sport to be had with plugs for bass and pollock along the rock edges - it is also not too far to get to Grisphorpe from here which is about a mile to the south - the best option if you want to get here is to go down on the flood and return on the ebb tide

Sorry about postin g the obvious but Nth Landing.....mind you beware all those fish (cod) have my name on them !! Good for the sperb cod sport aroud the Flambro' area , also good for Bempton unless you take the quint route and scramble down the path at Reighhton ....that youth always like to go for the hard route.....why peel an orange when you could pick at the skin with a pair of tweezers .....?

You could always hit Bemmo from Thornwick, although the Worm tends to find the quick sand and goes up to his waist in it - at least the path down at Rieghton is concrete ;D

This area of the site has now had a bit of an update and allows submission of launch areas anywhere in the Uk. Please feel free to test it out and let me know if its working and what you think of it http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/kayak-launch-sites/
