It was a huge flood in Scarborough on Sunday too.Was passing along the seafront and the harbour was spilling onto the road near the lunar park.The trawlers moored up were only about a foot from coming over the walls.Like has been said previously,i have never seen such a big flood for only a 5.7 tide here. :o :o :o :o

fished last night for a couple of hours, but the sea was a bit to NW for where i was and so no where near heavy enough , but managed 4 tiny mops, the smalest about the size of the one in ringers pic

Whats the sea state looking like for tomorrow night, looked on metoffice and it gives it to be slight , is it likely to fish o.k.
   Proberly try runwick last chance to get to coast for a while work starting to get in the way for a few months.

No I didn't dare go onto the pier and it was too windy up near the whale bones to hold the camera still.

what colour were the beads on this trace, and what lead were attached???   i think it was one that i found, on out newton beach 3 month ago, been trying but never had a fish on it ::) glad i lost it realy ;D

Ive tried such a rig before but found it quite alien, When I caught fish I kept wondering where it was as when my lead was near the rod tip the fish was still in the water. People who use pulleys are probably quite used to that but I found it strange and switched back to my normal rig.

The only rig i tend to use is a pulley pennel rig , i have my snood about 30 to 40 inches long , if your lead was near ure rod tip glen and the fish still in the water ,it must have been a bloody long snood or you were using ure spinning rod lol....one of the main things i like about this rig is the fact that the hook snoods stands well away fro the main trace and with a heavyish snood ,i never suffer from the hook snood wrapping around the body of the trace which i have a thing about , plus when theres a fish on the weight gets out of the way of the fish and the snags , the only thing i,m abit weary about with this rig is the amound of swivels and beads ,which havent caused me a problem yet , but when you loose one you loose alot of bits ..so for the real rough stuff i use the old faithfull rig ,,,with bugger all on other than a 5 or 6/0 and a plain lead

Got me thinking now Dav. Total rig length from hook through to lead is between 5 to 6 foot. With the rod tip around head height when retrieving its just about possible. I remember someone once telling me how they lost a big fish on a cliff with this rig as they tried to swing the rod in when the swivel came to the rod tip.

 I actually quite liked the rig and did catch on it but kept thinking Id lost the fish off when the lead came out the water and I didn't see a fish. I think if you got used to it, it would be a great rig - It Is a great rig.

Ive been using this rig now for about 5 years or so , and swear by it now , like you say glen i supose its just what you get used to, its done the business for me , although i know what you mean , see ramrod for tips on a longer rod lol.....
