This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

shallow coastline macky, when it blows on a spring up here, it gets naughty, but you can always find a spot for a fish  ;)

Hi Chris, we are wide open to the north here. Not many places on the coastline face straight up but Whitby is one so gets the worst of it. Funney you should mention tidle surges. On Sunday the tide was much smaller and less wind but the river spilled onto church street whereas the past 2 days has seen bigger tides and more wind and sea but the water was about a foot off on both Mon and Tues. With the pressure as it was on Sunday and the wind etc around north of Scotland there must have been a small tidle surge in the north sea. It was very strange to see all the houses and shops on church street covered with sandbags and all the tourists cars covered in crap from the river. In the fishing club Sunday night we were expecting an ebb tide down to 0.5m but it only ebbed to about 1.4. It was very strange.

i managed a codling of 2.5lbs and one of about 1lb which i returned.dug some worms at low water and found a trace and shock leader that someone must have lost the same night.it had a 6inch codling on the hook which was still alive as it was in a pool.unhooked it and let him go none the worse for wear.so whoever uses long pulley pennels with a bait clip, red shockleader tied to dark blue mainline using the bimini twist YOU DIDN'T BLANK  ;)

we had one on sun in the humber mate, i was fishing a match at cleethorpes and it washed every one of the beach and onto the prom wall
locals where saying they had never seen a tide like it, it was a predicted 6.2 and it was more like a 6.7.

Don't know mate but he gave strict instruction not to put anything on the forum (not that I'm in the habbit of putting up where I'm fishing a match). So don't tell anyone.
