Heaviest Fish Of The Month Competition - Sponsored By Whitby Angling Supplies And North Bay Angling Of Bridlington.

Here are details of another competition the forum will be running this month which is open to all forum members. Thanks to Whitby Angling Supplies and North Bay Angling Of Bridlington I have 2 £20 vouchers (1 for each shop) which will be awarded to the captor of the heaviest single fish (any species allowed).

The Rules are :

1. Catch a fish from the shore.
2. Have it weighed and verified at a local tackle shop, or if its caught in a fishing club match have it weighed there. Sorry no catch and release as it isn't practical for this competition.
3. Make a post here within this topic including a photo of the catch. Please give details of bait, rigs used etc. If you don't wish to disclose your venue please just give a rough idea. Please say where the fish was weighed and who witnessed the weight.
4. The winner of both vouchers will be the captor of the heaviest fish over the coming month. This competition ends on the last day of November.

This competition will be repeated on a monthly basis over the coming months with Whitby Angling Supplies supplying a £20 voucher to the winner each month.

Yeah I would put him down for it too John, it really is a remarkable catch and I'm over the moon for the lad, but the comp is for shore fishing only  :'(.

Maybe next summer we could try work one out for the kayak anglers.

Dave now head the kayak fishing hall of fame having knocked quint off top spot though  :)

Fantastic fish that nearly 9lb Bass - a proper specimen and credit to 'Dave' for having the guile to locate it within his Yak. However, sorry mate but I have to agree with the Big Baramundi on this one 'Rules is Rules' and another 40 quid will buy me some hooks etc etc when I extract 'Mr Beard' from some deep tangled filled hole in that big match up north this Sunday!!

No fella's its not shore caught, but no self respecting boat owner would have gone there either.

we do have an advantage with a yak, you can move from mark to mark quickly and don't have to worry about getting cut off with tides and stuff. what i can say is that fish was certainly so close to the shore that it could easily have been caught from the same. So with that in mind i have already purchased a mike ladle bass rod for next year  ;D ;D ;D
Does it count if you paddle of in your Kayak & then stand on a rock  ???

still smiling to myself a day later ;D ;D ;D

BB is absolutely right as it would be unfair on the person with heaviest shore caught fish, and besides Dave has already got his prize  :o  ;D

Hopefully next summer we could run something for the kayak anglers. Im really keen to get as many as possible to join the forum and contribute to what I find to be an amazing subject.

No doubt this page will be full of big fat shore cod on Sunday evening. Hopefully the raiders from the south will hear my warning and keep off our Whitby fish.

Not heavy enough unfortunately but this fish was 7 pounds 5 ounces and took a cocktail bait of 3 peelers, 3 mussel and 2 frozen gulley worm fished on a 6o mustad power worm hook. The fish was caught locally in last nights Whitby Club Match.
