Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

This poll is an off shoot from the topic about Greys fishing rods found at this link

http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/north-east-coast-fishing/easiest-job-in-the-world!/0/

We want to know if you have ever snapped a rod from any of the main rod makers listed above ? If so please tell us by voting for that manufacturer in the above poll.

If you have snapped a rod from the same manufacturer on several occasions then please let us know here. If you have snapped rods from more than 1 manufacturer then you have enough votes to tell us which ones.

If you have never snapped a rod then please select that option. If you don't go rock/beach fishing then the poll isn't for you but you may find it useful if you ever decide to purchase such a rod.

4 options is not enough I have bust all 6!

I bust 7 greys jupters in as many months!

You need to add a column for numbers of rods from each manufacturer.

Also need an option for how they broke as its no good counting car doors or falls as a broken rod!

I even snapped a jupiter in front of the greys rep!! They took me for lunch got some video of me and then made me up a special with extra wraps of carbon. That lasted about a month. I was starting to think they had cracked it and was even casting full squid and half mackerel baits for huss with it! Went on to the beach with a small clipped down sandeel and bang yet another 3 pce rod!

Didnt have a problem with a mk 1 appollo though, imo the best greys rod by far.

As for zzipies I have to agree that they are the most reliable of all the rods by far. They do break but usually from abuse. I know I bust one by falling on the butt, took 6 months to get a bloody replacement!

Century's are also much much more reliable than in the past, i think that autoclaving has a lot to do with it. I used to love the old long ezee's for feel but when they broke it was frightening! I had one explode when casting into about 10 pieces.

Remember fishing at balcary with a long ezee went to chuck out and the butt split like a banana at the female spigot. Just looked like it had been chopped lengthways with an axe!

Luckily in those day's i always had a zzippy with me as a spare.

happy  whistle fairly conclusive and I think it would have been even more so if there was a multiple vote for each make. Neil Mckellow's got his work cut out  laugh

It,s pretty much what I expected to be honest. Even taking into account the popularity of all the make,s of rod you can,t deny that the ZZipies are by far the most trustworthy. I just wish they,d stop making those awful Dymics  nerd
