This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Hi Fred, do you mean the two ports respectivly, or fishing between the two in general?

I scrounged a few hours today and went to the South Gare. Mackerel were about, especially in the river side, but there were just as many seals. Oh and a diver, who dived ten yards off the end. and the loon later complained about being caught by an anglers line.

i called down there last night just for a chat, talking to a bloke who said only four had been taken all day and he apparantely had 2 ov them, there was a bit ov role on mind and the sea was well coloured, should think the best chance ude have is on the bottom with cork and strip, wind in slow and hopefully cum under the seals, although i wouldnt hold your breath pmsl.from what i seen and i was at the gare for hour or so i didnt see 1 pulled out,but they can cum as fast as they go.

There were quite a few caught round the river side, so he must have been bulling. We fished off the end and there was only a few caught, and we had four between us. We were only there for about two hours over high water, though.

Sparky, the sea was like a mill pond at about 3oclock, although there was plenty of weed about.

fished there yest mesel from 11 till around 2ish had 5 in total, seal won 4 to 1 pmsl, so were the bloke got 4 allday from is anyones guess as i saw at least 20 caught while i was there

bottom does do a lot better down the gare for the bigger ones, mainly on Redcar side, i've had them to nr 2lb mark on the bottom over the yrs, as for trying to sneak them in past the seals you have to be very lucky, if the seals are busy chasing the ones caught on spinner you can get them past and landed safely, but its all part of the fun lol
