This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

fish from warmer warters
« on: May 12, 2007, 09:56:38 PM »
well i'm back from a 2 week stint in florida 1 week torture at disney and a week on the west coast tortured by 30 mph northley winds [ the ones we wanted all winter hear] but me and my lad kyle managed a couple of days afloat sadley not fishing for tarpon but any fishing better than no fishing

kyle with his first jack , he was amazed how hard they can pull [ a 3lber would tow a 15lb cod backwards]

me with a 12lber caught on a 5lb class spining rod with 10lb braid, took 100yards with its first run and 15 minuets to land [ god i wish we caught them hear ] i think it would have towed ramrods yak at 10 knots it had so much power

kyle with a small shark, just after the pic they droped it in the bottom of the boat and we were dancin round all wearing flip flops

me with a small grouper , caught a few of these an had a 4lber snached by a 6ft long dew fish/gag grouper near the surface the thing must have been 150lbs dont think it even new it was atached to me just smoked my real back to its hole

kyle with a nice spanish mack , skipper[ or capt as they like to be called over there] name kyle the mackeril king as he could catch em to order. great on the barbi

2 more of the clan, wonder if i'll be draging them along the rocks at hawsker in a few years time, bad enough with kyle never mind two at once

and after a dip in the sea its straight in the washer before bed.

all the boat fishing was done with capt tim drumond of fine line charters
http://www.charterfishtampabay.com/
used him for 10 years always on the fish , no fish no fee or thats what he says

well i'll sit back and wait for all the p@@s takeing to begin mww and ramrod

Excellent report mate looks like you all enjoyed yourself. Seems they have some great fishing out there. Fantastic pics too. The twins look ever so funny in the washer. I take it they get their good looks from their mum  ;).

Nice one Chris  :) :).

I can see you had a good time Chris, you look absolutely thrilled that you caught those fish  ;D Nice photo,s though. Did you point the fish in this direction when you let them go? Do they get the tarpon from under that bridge?

spot on ray top tarpoon spot under the bridge [sunshine skyway] but all the north winds had droped the water temp to 74 degres f from 82 so knocked em of the bite, 4 boats tryed that day not one bite some were spoted but not interested , we hadd 2 tarpon rods out but we kept busy with the small stuff [ small to them any way ;)]
hooked a monster under the bridge 3 years back fought it for an hour skipper recond a 150 lber 7ft long on a spining rod and a 6500 then the craftey bugger went under the bridge at a point where the boat couldent go , i was gutterd  :'(

I bet you were. A fish like that is going to boss you even with heavy gear. do the bait fish disperse too when the water gets colder? I think you better get crabing now and get a head start for when the twins get older  ;D
