This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Mine is Teklon Gold - 40.5lb / 18.4Kg but only .40mm.  Very low diameter for the breaking strain and gives me the confidence that I ain't gunna loose a decent fish.

I use teklon Gold for "Clean Fishing" Beaches Piers etc It is strong and very thin in Dia like FireFly says.
I use Cheap stuff for Rock fishing and I have a spare spool with me incase I lose too much.
Ive been told 70lb Teklon Gold is good for Rock fishing But at £10 plus a spool I wont be using it.
The stuff I get is usually a couple of quid.

I tried the teklon gold in the 40.5lb for rock fishing so that I could use a smaller reel for more distance. I found it ok, not too much stretch, easy to knot and fairly supple, not the most abrasion resistant but thats due to its diameter. I suppose its ok for certain applications, but I found it too expensive to use it off the rocks at £13 a spool.

Thats why I use the Cheap stuff on the rocks You can knock chunks out of it and it remains strong In my experience.
Mind you I have bought some crap Ive had cheap line that snaps when you are pulling a knot tight the stuff I get mostly is Sea strike thats not too bad and its cheap as chips.

If you get two people to agree on this subject you'll be doing well.

All my lines are clear. I use Berkley Big Game 15lb. It's not the finest but it's very tough and very reliable. The way I buy it, it is fairly cheap about £15 for 3600yards.

This topics a bit similar if anyone is interested.

http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,460.0.html

My fave line at the moment is Daiwa Sensor. Probably my favourite because of its abrasion resistance. You can run it across rocks and it doesn't take any harm. I am also a big fan of the sylcast lines. They are high in diameter but very strong.
