Fished the Rocks Easter Monday match today, took a few photos to show those not familiar with Bempton.  The first image is looking to the South and the second to the North.  Caught a small Bass first cast and small cod second cast.  It then went quiet but managed to get three more cod during the match.  Not much caught, I had the heaviest bag weighing just over 7lb.

Well done Ray. Another win mate. Great pictures too. Its nice to see what it looks like from the bottom of the cliffs as I've only ever been above and am too frightened to look down.

A bass too - Species hunter.

It took me longer to send those photo,s than it did to catch the fish ;D On the first photo you can see one of the boilers and on the second you can just about see Andy Barmby which gives you a bit of perspective. Andy caught 2 codling in the first hour and never caught another fish apart from an under sized Pouting.

Don't think I've ever met Andy although we did fish them once in the Yorkshire fours. I believe Mikefish paired up with him. Is Andy the size of a 5 pence piece or are the cliffs really that high.

I don,t think the pictures do the hieght of the cliffs justice Glenn. When you look at Andy the top of the cliffs are more distant than it shows but if you look directly behind him the cliff top isn,t in view, it goes up a bit after that.

I remember that night well Mike. Spent an hour waiting for killer to show up - late as always. I fished with a guy I've never seen before or since that night. Maybe Ray will Know him. A big tall lad wearing oilskins who told a story of the day he fished Bempton in a blizzard, fell over and skidded to the edge of the cliff with his oilskins acting like a sledge. Said he was hung on by a big clump of grass. Quite why he was still wearing the oil skins had me beat.  ;D. Think we came out on top in that match 2 rocklings to 1.

Dav It,s actually one bead the blue is a piece of tubing. I was messing around with rigs on Sunday night knowing I would be using worm and I hate tying them on. Anyway I used 4/0 hooks on the bottom and I had some 1/0 bronze Mustad,s which are really quite small but strong with a good barb and I can tell you every fish I caught was also hooked in the mouth with those small hooks with no chance of escape so I,m thinking about using them above my crab baits in summer. They just bend out too when you get fast up.

This is the cod I got 2nd cast and you can see the small hook is in the same place as the hook in the Bass. Now I know pennell's are,nt new but the hooks I was using on the top were almost like Carp hooks and were consistently catching them in the lips giving them no chance of escape and they were,nt really interfering with the snags which is usually why I don,t like fishing with pennell's on rock.

Theres still fish down there in the exact same spot, tight in within a big casters range.2 Pals and me had the first semi serious go in his warrior and had 12 codlings and 12 billet in 3 hours. All were a cracking stamp, smallest 2lb and biggest 5lb which fell to my pals nephew on his 1st ever trip at 8 years old.Its a dodgy time of year for boat fishing and didnt go with much hope, but it turned out to be reasonable afternoon and a flat calm sea. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

PS: That ladder looks a bit flimsy Ray!!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Baiting Tim,worm, crab and tow pie (hermit crabs),if we had fished keen,we could have done a bit better,it was more of a social thing, good fun none the less, will be moving onto pirks and shads when the water clears up.Hoping to get onto the wrecks and anchor up for an early ling at the weekend, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

easiest way to get to that point is parkup in reighton camp walk onto the beach then keep on walking and walking and walking and walking and walking and walking and oh walk a bit further. make sure you got some good boots on preferably with studs in.

that or go down a very dodgy ladder. something i wont do, and ill go down nearly anywhere.
