This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

As we came in tonight around Sandsend cliffs I just spent some time staring down into the kelp forrest below. Awesome

I know exactly what you mean Glenn, for some reason it seems great just to be so close looking directly down into the clear water/kelp. Probably means I need to get out more!  nerd

well done again Glenn, two trips & starting to look totally comfortable already

ye smokey its hard work at the moment, especially with the wind blowing offshore and nothing but a paddle to get you back to the start of the drift. but as Glenn says it was a really nice evening once the wind eased and some of us fluked a few fish  wink

funniest event of the day, as we left Sandsend i was last afloat & chucked an X rap over and trolled it out, three strokes of the paddle & the rod dived and stayed down. I initially thought Bass, but the fight was not right & I had nice coalie of about 2lb, which from the distance away that quint was looked silver and prompted a congratulatory shout of "the Jammy B*sta*d"  canadian
anyway i continued in the same vain for the rest of the evening even prompting me to think i may be a bit lucky tease, finished with 4 decent codling a lovely pollock of about 6lb that fought like something twice its size & small ling caught by its tail.
and to finish off the evening Marion, who was trying hard not to hate me as she gamely kept fishing without success, broke her duck with a decent fish of close to 4lb. which should explain the high pitched shriek that echoed around Sansend cliffs about 8pm

got to stop meeting like this

success at last  happy

can you give this man any tips Smokey ?

Launched tonight again, had a cod of about 5lb which i was chuffed with and then came close in under Bemo and had a pollock of nearly 3lb, both on the carbon ice pick so great fun. Came off at 9.30 and timed it just right, got a tow to top of slope on the back of the landrover, was so greatful. Was talking to some divers at the top, they confirmed what we thought, visibility is not good down there, and it looks so misleading at the mo. Also had a chat with the RSPB warden who had been out on a boat to 'count the birds' , he says many of the young are starving to death due the lack of sandeels. Makes you wonder. . .Ken

You need to get into the neck with them fillets Ironman  whistle happy It's where all the flesh is  wink I was talking to Cps last night on the Brigg about water clarity,he reckoned it was quite clear but i reckoned it was clear on top and murky below,i've seen it many times before like that,it's very decieving, clear as gin on the top but you can only see your lure go down 6 or 8 feet, when it's gin clear you can see em 20-30 feet... great report again tight lines  happy

Not having a real answer to this but I wonder if the different temps are having an effect on the water clarity.....I8 mean what is that line of rubbery algae/clay mix on the Holderness all about....things don't seem right at the moment ?
