This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

glen its easy to do , just trap a cork or anything similart like a big floating bead (which is strong enough to lift a strip off the bottom ) between two beads near to ure hook ,u dont even need to trap cork between beads just pass line through it twice so it traps it , and vary ure hook length depending on were the fish are , anything from 20 " to  6ft  , when using this type of rig i always use a very small trebble ,which guarntees not having the fish hit ure bait and miss the hook.....

Cheers Dav. Have you used floating beads ? If so what size. I just payed 6 quid for 20 of the dam things and the trace I made with 3 on blew straight into the sea tonight. I could see it glowing as it floated away  :'(

haha , i have the small ones with the little pink dots on around 10mm for fishing ragworm , which are not quite boyant enough to raise it off the sea bed they just raise the top of the hook , i also have ones around 30mm ish wgich if cut in half and glued together ,rase trhe macky strip off the sea bed which is the only type of fishing i use cork for , but would think they would work for pollock ,

Dav I have seen the cork rig work for Pollock. The guy was using fresh lug and caught 2 nice pollock. It was last october and I was very surprised to see anyone use lugworm. When I saw him I thought "He wont catch nowt but crabs". Proved me wrong and reinforced my theory that I kneed to stop being so fixed in my ways.

The float beads I have are quite big. Maybe too big. I used 3 but maybe should use 1 in future. Only manages a small codling tonight.

ide use rag glen on a floating rig , have a few on ure hook all wriggling away and im sure it would be more tantilising to a pollock than a lug ball .....

i find if you use a small strip of pipe lagging which you can easily tie wth your line is very good for lifting the hook just clear of the bottom, try various sizers ,i experiment usin a bucket of water and see which suites the bait,
