Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Hi Guys just a few lines to let you know that The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Association of Sea Anglers has now set up its own forum. YALASA are a local conservation group and many of the members of this forum are members.

The site will have debate on local and national conservation issues and will also display minutes of the groups meetings, correspondence with various agencies etc.

Anyone interested in YALASA can take a look at their new forum at the following url.

Hi Glenn,

thanks for that.

Just one point, I wouldn't class YaLASA as a conservation group, the remit is to represent and support the views and needs of anglers in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. If that entails supporting conservation ideals that enhance RSA then so be it, however, such support could only be provided if the majority supported such a move. Similarly if the majority didn't support a conservation measure and that we could put forward a sound arguement to counteract any such proposal then YaLASA would do so.

Conservation is but a very small part of our general remit, neither do YaLASA have a strong position with respect to our viewpoint on the commercial sector, they, like us are one of a number of stakeholders.

It may seem a small point, however, the group was not established to put in place mandatory conservation ideals (Bag limits, C&R and no take zones etc.) in the district. If thats what the majority wanted, then YaLASA would be in a position to represent those views, clearly that is not the case, although we would strive to make clear any minority view also.

The association is only valid if it represents the views of all anglers, whether they are conflicting or not, that is why we will make clear in any document or response, the majority and minority views received.
