At last the bigger fish are starting to show from the boats. Brian Stewart, fishing aboard Sarah JFK, took a fine ling of 20lb, the best of an 180-fish haul, made up mainly of cod in the 4-8lb range, Paul Athey taking the best at 10-8-0.

Other trips have produced over 200 fish, with cod to 16lb for Jimmy Cassidy plus coalfish to 10lb and ling of 15lb for Davy Collinson.

Anglers aboard Mistress out of the Tyne have also taken good numbers of cod, with the best fish a ling of 11lb.
