Well Done To Ryan Vasey AKA Ryanfish For Winning The Whitby Fishing Club Junior Section.

Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

a more serious thread from me.
« on: August 03, 2007, 09:58:13 PM »
Despite all the yakking I am still looking forward to the autumn and to a return to fishing from the shore after a long break (around about 8-10 years).
I used to mainly fish Filey Brigg and the Holderness coast, but did have the occasional venture further north.
I ve been having a bit of a look recently at Cloughton and Ravenscar as two more places to explore , do those venues fish best over low water or high, I would imagine a decent amount of sea is needed but could do with a bit of info as its about 2 hours drive for me to get to those marks and so need to make the most of me fishing time ...Thanks in anticipation

Cheers Dave

Ravenscars rubbish Dave don,t go there  ::) Seriously it,s quite a complex spot to fish and is hit and miss in summer, usually miss. Cloughton can fish well in summer when it,s clear and flat. Later in the year it usually needs colour with a slight swell unless you fish the wyke where a big smooth swell fishes just after a big sea.

Yes I,ve tasted it on a few occasions, usually when I,m dragging myself up the last section on my belly with cramp in both legs  ;D It,s got lots of options but takes some sussing and needs lots of time to understand how it fishes in varying conditions.

And a great big cast.

But then again my old mate whacker likes a dabble down there. He wont tell me where to fish though. Nothing down there for you he says when I make enquiries.

Big casts are optional and beneficial at times but not always neccesary Glenn, you,d be suprised  :o It,s knowing where and when to do it that takes yonks to suss.

It was a decent crab bait Dav, cast as far as I could  ;D  ;D
