Damn does that mean I cant bring 50 smouthhounds home in my fish bag ? Your so predictable these days Nigel.
.
Well there's being predictable, and then there's just sheer monotony

, but there is little point in going down that particular avenue.
I thought you'd resigned as RSA rep ? how come your on the latest friends of DEFRA group ?

Sorry Glenn, I guess I should have asked for permission. FWIW I represent my interests and those of like minded people who wish to oppose senseless restriction for the sake of it or it being the whim of of the green and environmentalists That could be angling interests, fishing interests or whatever, but don't presume through your blurred vision of hatred for the NFSA, BASS, SACN and Leon in particular, that I am an angling representative in your context, I use whatever opportunities are afforded to me to get a seat at the table, particularly as I have a vested interest. I make no apologies for that, I'm fighting on a common sense ticket, not to a sole angling or conservation plan.
Despite my opposition to the constant stream of consultation and regulation, I'm not completely blind and I do acknowledge that in todays rule and regulation dominated environment, being at the table counts for a damn sight more than squealing from the outside, and refusing to accept that change is likely, I may not like it, but burying my head is not an option. Similarly when the EU commission holds such a huge sway on what we can and can't do in our own waters, and that the Labour government is so intent on appeasing their European masters, petitions, letter writing and tub thumping are unlikely to draw anyones attention to what has been a dire situation in terms of fish stocks, but one that is steadily improving, you have to be seen to be heard, and there is nothing like physical presence. It is impossible to argue against situations where there is a real conservation requirement based on scientific fact, and that sea angling and or incombination effects are having a clear detrimental impact, where this is proven then some mitigation measures may be necessary. Simply saying I don't believe it and offering no couter evidence will not secure a reduction in regulation, you can shout NO NO NO as much as you want, but unless you have the evidence to prove otherwise sea angling in the future will begin to see increased regulation. This has nothing to do with Leon or the NFSA or even BASS (despite the fact you would like it to be so), it is down to management of European waters by the EU commission, if it didn't come around through the CFP, it would be the Water Framework Directive (WFD), if it wasn't the WFD it would be through Natura 2000 or the Habs Directive. It is a feature of the European Parliament that everything has to be managed. As a consequence I want to be sat at the table shaping the form of any restrictions to reduce the impact to sea angling, rather than sat out of the loop wondering what they are up to, and subsequently wonding how the hell they managed to get that piece of legislation in, but then you know all that. But hey why let the truth get in the way for an opportunity to rant
