This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Cheers sam ..In fact if i remeber rioghtly it was a lucky craft sammy that was causing me the problem , , so i gather they do go from side to side , , how do you walk the dog , ( no silly replies lol )
I was twitching a couple of times and then pausing then doing the same the opposite way ,  does that sound somthing near right ? The rod i was using was a fast actioned graphite rod , which seems great for this work but unsure with it been fast actioned am i excaggerating it to much combined with the braid which is causing the lure to jump to much and overtake the line causing tangles.......cheers

For me 'Walking the Dog' is all about timing, keep the rod quite high and by flicking the rod back in a rhythm you can get the lure working side to side.

You'll find if you flick the rod back the lure will go to one side, just when it's finishing moving you flick the rod back again and it'll move off to the next side, by twitching the lure at the end of each side move you can get a nice rhythm going.
Kind of easier to show rather than explain  embarrass

He you go Dav, skip past the first 4.5mins and try to ignore the different language but you can see how he is working the lure. Only difference is he is working the bait with the rod down.

Great stuff Ray, nice one cool Once you pop you just can't stop yes  I tried a yo-zuri mag popper the other night but the only thing i could tempt were damn gulls.... whistle they were trying to attack the lure so i switched to the trusted maria chase lure and caught this little fella...  laugh

It took the plug at my feet just as i was going to lift it from the water.

Great stuff well done that man.
I have been looking at the sea all week at skinny and have decided that tomorrow nights low water is the one for me to try my first ever rock edge lure fishing at the grove. I have a modest collection of surface poppers, crystal minnows, shallow divers and wedges(solid metal american ) and have decided to try 1 hr each side of LW. Does this sound like a good place to start for my first attempt ? blindfold

Just out of interest, has anyone ever heard of a 10lb er being caught on this coast between  Redcar and Holderness.I only know of one confirmed double, the late Pete Farnell had one around 12lb about 20 odd years ago in a Filey club match. The silly thing is,i virtually guarentee you nobody has seriously had a go with the lures where it was caught  surprise tight lines

I've heard of some near doubles of late Smokey- probably in the last fortnight or so.
Caught on bait I believe.
I'm probably going for another look out tonight - hopefully they will play the game and not 'come short' to the popper.
And if they do- I have a back up plan!!
