Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Not so long ago SOS joined two other sea angling conservation bodies in Scotland in order to create the The Scottish Sea Anglers Conservation Network (SSACN).

SOS will still be campaigning under its own name for UK and EU issues

This move reflected the need for sea angling bodies to develop the critical mass necessary to be as effective as other active lobby interests - nature conservation NGO’s, commercial and port interests, Government Departments etc.

Getting SSACN started on its' journey has been achieved through the efforts of a 'steering group' covering a broad spectrum of sea angling interests, consisting of the Davies Holt / McNair and Murray – Denis Kelly - Fiona Cameron – Ian Burrett - John Crowther – Lenny Simpson – Neal Clamp – Steve Bastiman and Trevor Springford.

Though much work remains to be done, we do have a web site at www.ssacn.org which will give you a taste of where we are going.

As a member of S.O.S. you will automatically receive 'Associate Membership' but I would urge you to continue to show your commitment to conservation and sign up for Full Membership - it's only £10/yr or £50 Lifetime for adults, £5 for Juniors, an annual family plan for £20; there are Club and Corporate plans as well.

Paypal and credit cards accepted as well as cheques !!

For anyone who feels membership is not for them, but would be happy to support us, we do have a donate button on the web site.

Though we have plans for many fund raising activities, keep an eye out for the Prize Draw we shall shortly be running, we've already had several substantial prizes donated.

With your help, we can put together an organisation that conservation minded Scottish anglers and visitors alike can be proud of.

There are many challenges for SSACN, YOU could help.

We need active supporters, especially in Scotland, to work issues with local press, politicians and local conservation groups. We also need help in establishing a 'junior' SSACN, researching papers and all the other stuff necessary to enable us to rapidly increase our presence and the impact of sea angling conservation.

We shall be holding our first full meeting this coming Wednesday in Glasgow. If you feel you'd like to get involved please email me at contact@ssacn.org, your help would be greatly appreciated.

NOTE; If you would rather not receive email updates and newsletter from SSACN please email unsubscribe@ssacn.org and enter unsubscribe in the title.

Regards

S.O.S. & S.S.A.C.N.
