round five port carlisle pegged cmand release.
drew my peg in the same place as usual :sick:my fingers must be drawn to that stretch of beach ive fished that stretch of ten pegs nearly every match ive been there.
anyways my experience of that stretch paid off as i easily beat those around me to finish fifth overall with a ground out 13 fish.tactics were simple blast a 6 or 7 oz gripper out into the run while everyone else fished light closer in.
winning the match easily rockhopper steve smith with 24 fish for 800+cm.longest fish 42cm.
my club rockhoppers won the match which considering we had five anglers out and workington had 29 was no mean feat!

Thats a top result for your club Maxie well done. I take it the inter club thing isn't worked on an average then ? In the only interclub match we fish over here its the club with the best average that wins, which usually means the club with the least anglrs.

how it works is only the top five weights in each club counts to the club total weight.
so a club with 29 anglers out can cover a lot more marks or fish more pegs than a club with five anglers.

so my club which at the moment only has about 8 members need all the anglers to do the business on the day whereas a club with 10 good anglers plus another 10 or 15 backup anglers dont need all their good anglers to perform on the day.

Thanks for taking the time to post all them results Maxie, it really is an intresting read...  I like the pic of the first cliff i use to like fishing off that big scar in front of there for the plaice on a nice flat sea, it really was a good chuck...never caught a great deal of the top of the cliff tho just the odd small plaice and flounder..

You certainly have put a lot of time into your fishing Gary, I bet there arent many anglers as well travelled and as knowledgable on other areas as yourself.

round six low water beckfoot to tommy legs at silloth.cmr any fish counts.
its a hike to low water mark on here and a furious incoming tide on the beckfoot end meant a smallish turnout.
i fish part of this venue regular for bass and expected to be right up among the points.wrong again as a string of missed bites meant only six fish for 221cm.
winning was rockhoppers steve smith making it two in a row with dogs, bass and flounderfor 500plus cm.put this lad on fish and he is gonna nail them as he is a class angler.
a couple of decent bass about 5lb,a lad in our clubs rod was pulled off the rest and was getting dragged over the sand out to sea but he missed it,same hooks as me i reckon
some good dogs outwhere i was a couple that would have took the snowball but as it was cmr they forgot about it and put them back  :sick:thank god mine was only about two pound.

round ten on grasslot shore 1 down 3 up and again the cod failed to show up,its looking like a bad cod year for west cumbria, lets hope it is just a late season!!hopefully i am fishing some marks this week which always produce cod,if they fish badly then its gonna be a long winter.
anyways winning the match me again with a mixed bag of dogs, cod, dabs and rockling for 8lb plus.2nd a bag of dogs.h  fish a 3lb 2oz dog.

most lads set up for dogs on the beach at maryport but they usually only come on on the flood so me and another lad in our club went on a cod mark about a mile away, couldnt beleive we were the only ones on it as it is one of the best marks for a bag of cod in cumbria,a true banker mark   :yes:only one cod off it though but my mate pulled a nice 2lb plaice out of it as well.a quick move and straight into dogs and dabs.
