This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

round three between allonby and tommy legs 3up 2 down.
weather 30-40mph winds patchy rain.

this would have been a good match with half decent weather but a big sea on here means one thing, weed.
i ended up fishing a shallow gully which was breaking the main waves but only small flounders in there, fished the gulley channel where it runs out and got an eel last chuck.
only three eels out in the match though and mine was the smallest.

heres a couple of local clubs results to show how bad it is.
WORKINGTON Sea Angling club held their latest competition at Mawbray on Sunday with 18 anglers fishing four hours up to high water.

Conditions were better suited to sunbathing and swimming with it being red hot and no wind.

The match was fished on a small tide and with the lack of tide-run the water was crystal clear, making the fishing difficult. There were a few under-size bass, flounder and plaice caught but less than half the competitors managed to find a sizable fish.

Best bag and heaviest fish went to the club secretary, Caroline Hanon, with a 1lb 2¾oz plaice.

Second was Howard Knudtson with a 14½oz plaice and third was Mike Laycock with a 13¼oz plaice.

Lee Murphy was the only junior to catch, 9¼oz flounder.
HARRINGTON Sea Angling Club’s latest match was held at Salterbeck on Saturday fishing from 4pm-8pm.

Twelve anglers caught a total of 14 fish - nine eel, three flounder, a rockling and a plaice.

First was Barry McGlasson with an eel, a flounder and a plaice weighing a total of 2lb 12oz.

Second was Luke Holiday with an eel and a flounder weighing 2lb 3 oz. His eel was also the heaviest fish weighing 1lb 13oz. Third was Phill Sibbald with two eel weighing 1lb 5oz.

WORKINGTON SAC fished Grasslot on Sunday in a strong north westerly wind.

Fourteen adults and two juniors caught flounder, tope, plaice, eel, dog fish, plaice, bass, dab and gurnard.

Shaun Dixon, back fishing again, won with a dog fish and an eel for 2lb 4½oz. He also had the heaviest fish, the dog fish at 2lb 2¼oz.

Second was D Busby with two plaice for 1lb 6½oz. Third was S George with two flounder for 1lb 3¼oz.

Lee Murphy won the juniors with two flounder and one eel for 1lb 12½oz. Second was Liam Barlow with one eel for 10oz.

how about this for a bag of eels.
MARYPORT Sea Angling Club fished a six-hour rover match in a fresh south south-west wind. Conditions were good but in angling the fish can just fail to turn up when you expect them.

Out of the 16 senior and three juniors, only Wayne Stevenson really got into any numbers with a impressive haul of 22 large eels to easily won the match.

His total was 30lb 5¼oz and Stevenson also had the heaviest fish, a 2lb eel. Second was John Flemming with two pollock for 2lb 4oz.

The winning junior was Ricky Holt with five flounder, a dab and two eel for 4lb 10¾oz. Holt also had heaviest junior fish, an eel of 1lb
