Another Trawlerman Exceeds His Common Fisheries Policy Quota

Tom Nicholson Of TN Trawlers Caught For Landing Black Fish Worth Up To 1 Million Pounds

After recent reports from the EU fisheries Commissioner Joe Boerg of an increase in fishermen breaking the law and a decrease in fines being handed out by the courts, yet another UK trawlerman has been caught for landing illegally caught fish “Black Fish”.

In a report in the north east newspaper The Sunday Mail it is said that

Fish landed on 53 trips by two of the Codfather’s skippers was valued at around £260,000 – but investigators for the Marine and Fisheries Agency believe the total value of his hauls could be £1million.His firm now face action under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

TN Trawlers are based in Annan, Dumfriesshire, and their fleet fish the Solway Firth off the south-west coast and the south of England.

The firm, which has a £2.5million annual turnover, is run by Nicholson, his female partner and his son Chris.

They were targeted as part of a crackdown between January 2004 and July 2005.
