Andy Benham Discover Kayak Fishing Author At Southampton Boat Show

Kayak fishing author Andy Benham will be signing his new book at the Show

August 2010

Kayak fishing has seen a surge in popularity in recent years and a new book has just been published about this exciting sport. Discover Kayak Fishing is written by journalist and angling specialist Andy Benham. Andy will be at the Southampton Boat Show on the Johnson Outdoors UK stand H009 on Saturday 11th September signing copies of the book.

The book is published by Pesda Press and covers everything from choosing the right kayak and equipment to fishing techniques and seamanship for small craft. It also has lots of tips on essential skills such as anchoring your kayak safely and there’s practical advice on using navigation aids and installing a fish finder.

Visitors to the Johnson Outdoors UK stand will also be able to see the dedicated kayak fishing section and get friendly advice on all the latest kayak fishing models on display. These include the award-winning Prowler Ultra 4.7 which has its first appearance at the Southampton Show. There are also new designs in the Ocean Kayak Trident series with 11’ (3.5m), 13’ (4.1m) and 15’ (4.8m) kayaks available. They are all packed with features including rod holders, storage hatches and the Sonar Shield for housing a fish finder.

As well as fishing kayaks there’s an exciting range of canoes, kayaks and sit-on-tops on the stand. New designs to see this year include the Nalu 12.5, an all-in-one stand up paddleboard (SUP) and surf kayak. The new Saranac series from Old Town are family canoes starting at £549 complete with built-in seats, storage and buoyancy. The Vector 13 is a fantastic new sit-on-top tourer from Necky that offers performance and versatility. All these recreational craft are car-toppable and offer great value.

Edwin: I usually try to pick three distinct areas, spend three
days fishing in those different areas and try to target the individual rising
fish as precisely as possible. Ten minutes pass when
rod three buckles over just as I am don’t let all the size and creel limits send
    you into complete despair.
