Below is a list of dates I have for opens both boat and shore which hopefully i will be able to keep updated. Nearer the date when i get the info i will endeavour to post the information. If anyone has a date they would like added please let me know. Some of these dates at the minute are just provisional so please if you are an angling writer do not publish these in any magazines. In the past this has been done and the dates have been wrong.

Summer festival, 29th. June to 19th. July.
Whitby charter skippers summer festival which starts on the 29th june and finishes on the 19th july is for the 2nd year running is going to have £5000 for first prize for the heaviest fish over the festival plus £1000 for 2nd heaviest and £500 for 3rd and £250 for 4th plus £100 per day for the daily prizes plus many tackle prizes which are to be announced soon.

Fishing 11.00am to 3.00pm, register from 8.00am at Amble Angling Centre. Entry fee £10 adults, £1 juniors (up to 8 y.o. , and 9 to 16 y.o.) If juniors want to fish for the main prizes they will have to pay adult entry fee. Boundaries : Seahouse south pier to Lynemouth pipe, excluding Amble pier and Rivers Coquet and Aln. Heaviest bag competition, also prizes for heaviest fish. Prizes according to entry numbers. There will be separate prizes for the junior section. 5th or 19th July Kayak Fishing Match At Filey £500 First Prize Filey Brigg Angling Society have announced their intention to hold a kayak fishing match at Filey Brigg during July 2009. Two dates of 5th and 19th July have been set, and if weather stops play on the first date then the match will be moved to the second.
Entry fee will be £20 per person which will entitle you to match entry and aftermatch refreshments.
The first prize will be £500, thereafter there will be substantial cash prizes, as all entrance money will be used as payout.
There will also be great prizes on offer, as yet these are to be finalised. However, so far we have the following:
• A Kayak UK Alutech flat paddle, kindly donated by forum member Spud, valued at £160
• A £50 tackle voucher kindly donated by Bill Costin
• A kayak fishing rod, kindly donated by GB Angling, valued at £20
• A prize to be arranged kindly donated by forum member Newyaker
• 2 x Family Ticket for Flamingo Land Zoo and Family Funpark, kindly donated by Flamingoland, valued at £82 each

8th November OPEN SHORE ANGLING COMPETITION (PENN POINTS) ORGANISED BY THE NORTH EAST DIVISION (MARINE) ANGLING TRUST. Fishing 10 am to 3 pm. Weigh in closes 4.30 prompt. Registration HQ to be confirmed. Boundaries are the north bank of the River Wear to the south bank of the River Blyth and all river an beach and rock marks in between, excluding Roker and South Shields pier round ends – also Tynemouth pier. This is a unique occasion for Trout and Salmon anglers in the North East region to have the opportunity to view, try, and buy, in one location a massive selection of rods, reels, fly lines, fly tying materials & equipment, flies, hooks, tippet materials, sports clothing, etc, in anticipation of the new 2010 season.

Throughout the day there will be casting demonstrations, casting clinics, presentations on competition fishing, still water fishing, river fishing, advice squad and much more. Fly tying demonstrations on those competition flies, plus club members showing their individual tying patterns that catch on local and national waters, (just ask them to tie that elusive fly?)

Staff will be on hand from many Still Waters such as Stocks Fishery, Sharply Springs, Witton Castle Lakes, and many more to explain what’s on offer in the coming season regarding stocking policy, facilities, local competitions, etc.

Products will be on view from Greys / Hardys of Alnwick, Ultimate Fishing Supplies, North East Tackle Supplies, Reelsport, Flytek, Cookshill Fly Tying, Top Tackle, Celtic Flycraft, Rutland fishing, and many more, etc. Check out the website for all the up to date information on the show.

This is an excellent opportunity to see what’s new on the market, ask the experts advice on tackle, tactics, locations, tuition on all aspects of fly tying, casting. Hot food and drinks served all day, so come along and have a great day…
